Together against blood cancer

Typification campaign at Baumann Automation

We repeatedly supported the DKMS typing campaign under the motto ‘We beat blood cancer!’. Thanks to the dedicated participation of our employees, we were able to send a strong signal in the fight against blood cancer.

The typing campaign was organised in collaboration with the Amberg-Sulzbach self-help group for children with cancer under the leadership of Marco Kind. Special thanks go to the Baumann family, who generously covered the costs of the stem cell donor registration.

DKMS is an international non-profit organisation that has set itself the goal of giving as many people with blood cancer around the world as possible a second chance at life. Since its foundation in 1991 by Dr Peter Harf in Germany, DKMS has worked continuously to increase the number of registered stem cell donors. There are currently over 12.5 million registered donors worldwide, and 120,000 patients have already been given a new chance at life through a stem cell donation.

Blood cancer is the most common type of cancer in children. Many of the children affected have only one chance to survive and be cured: a stem cell transplant. They are dependent on finding a suitable stem cell donor - their genetic twin.

We are proud to make a contribution to the vital work of DKMS through our commitment and hope that we can continue to win over many of our employees to this important cause in the future.

Note: The above figures and information are based on the latest data available from DKMS.
